Neuropathy has many causes. Uncontrolled diabetes is the most common. Other types of neuropathies are caused by chemo therapy, failed low back surgery, statin drug use to name a few.
The symptoms of neuropathy include burning, numbness, tingling and loss of feeling in the extremities, mostly the feet. The pain can be severe and will usually interfere with the patients ability to sleep. They will also not feel confident walking since the pain interferes with the perception of the position of their feet.
Currently the medical treatment for neuropathy is futile at best. Most patients are taking some type of medication for the nerve pain (Gabapentin, Neurotin, Lyrica, etc). These may help, but for most it does not improve their function. Our goal of treating neuropathies is to properly assess the patient’s ability to sense hot, cold, sharp, dull, light touch, etc. This directly correlates with the patients loss of function or inability to walk.
We not only get our patients pain under control but more importantly we get them walking again with confidence so they can enjoy their families and do the things they want. Our patients also report that their sleep quality dramatically improves.
In our clinic we use the most advanced therapies available to treat neuropathy including low level laser therapy, nerve re-education and proper supplementation to feed the nerves. Our goal is to increase blood supply to the area to allow the area to heal properly. Give us a call to learn more! It will be LIFE CHANGING!!
